The assessment may cover:
Choose this appointment for a skin abscess that may require assessment and drainage. The clinic must first determine whether the location, size and severity of the concern can be managed safely as an in-clinic procedure. When clinically indicated, the procedure involves making a small opening that allows the collected material to drain. A sample may be collected for laboratory culture when further testing is appropriate. Deep, extensive or complicated infections may require hospital or specialist care. Contact the clinic before booking if you are unsure whether the abscess can be treated at Bina.
The assessment may consider
Choose this appointment for a cut or laceration that may require stitches. Because wound closure can be time-sensitive, contact the clinic promptly so the team can confirm whether the injury is suitable for an appointment. The wound is examined and cleaned before the clinician determines whether suturing is appropriate. If stitches are placed, you will receive instructions about keeping the area clean, protecting the wound and recognizing concerns that require further medical attention. Deep or complex wounds, uncontrolled bleeding and injuries involving important underlying structures may require emergency or specialist care. Suture removal and ongoing wound care are booked separately through Nursing Services.
Before the procedure, the clinic may need to confirm
Choose this option only after Bina has confirmed that the specific procedure can be performed at the clinic. This appointment covers selected minor procedures that do not fall under wound suturing or abscess drainage. A separate consultation may be required when the diagnosis, procedure or suitability has not already been established. The procedure may also need to be scheduled for a later appointment following the assessment. Skin tags, warts, cysts, lipomas and skin biopsies have their own Skin Lesion and Dermatology Procedures service and should be booked through that service page unless the clinic directs you otherwise.
