‍What the consultation covers:

Clinical review: Your symptoms, medical history, medications, previous injuries and treatments.

This appointment is for the assessment of an orthopedic, joint or sports-related concern by an orthopedic surgeon. It may be appropriate for persistent pain, reduced mobility, osteoarthritis, a sports injury, or a surgical or second opinion.

How the procedures differ:

Cortisone injection: Medication is injected into an eligible joint when the clinician determines that the procedure is appropriate.
Joint aspiration: Fluid is removed from an affected joint when aspiration is clinically indicated for assessment or symptom management.

Choosing and preparing for your appointment:

Select the one-joint or two-joint cortisone option based on the number of areas being treated.
Book Joint Aspiration if fluid removal has been recommended or may be clinically indicated.
Bring relevant imaging, medical reports and a current medication list.
A prior consultation may be required to confirm whether the procedure is appropriate.
Laboratory analysis of aspirated fluid is charged separately when required.

Available procedures:

PRP injection: Platelet-rich plasma is prepared from a sample of your own blood and injected into one eligible joint or treatment area.
Viscosupplementation: A hyaluronic-acid product is injected into one eligible joint.

Before your appointment:

Bring any relevant X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs and medical reports.
Bring a current list of medications.
Follow the preparation instructions provided by the clinic.
An orthopedic consultation may be required if the clinical indication has not already been established.

CNESST medical evaluation appointment:

This appointment is for a CNESST Medical Evaluation Report. A REM is generally completed after a work-related injury has been consolidated. It documents permanent impairment and functional limitations related to the accepted injury. Contact Bina to confirm that this is the correct appointment and that the required stage of the CNESST process has been reached.
